WHAT IS SEA GRAPE (CAULERPA)?
Sea grape is a fresh, natural food source that brings high economic value to coastal communities. In Vietnam, many sea grape farms—both large and small—have been established across the country, especially concentrated in Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces.

Sea grapes are a short-term crop (only 25 to 40 days) with high economic return. Shading nets are commonly used in cultivation ponds to regulate sunlight and seawater temperature.

WHY IS A SHADE NET NECESSARY FOR SEA GRAPE FARMING?
Sea grapes are typically grown in shallow coastal waters, ponds, or mesh cages. Daily control of pond water conditions, microorganisms, and especially light exposure is essential, as these directly impact the quality of the crop. Therefore, a shading net system is indispensable in sea grape cultivation.

In Ninh Hai Ward, Ninh Thuan Province, many farmers apply bottom-water cultivation methods to help sea grapes grow in a natural environment. According to one grower, “Each batch of sea grapes can be harvested after just two weeks, but the water must be changed daily, microorganisms controlled, and shading nets used. The quality of the crop depends entirely on seawater and climate conditions.”
