Four Types of Golf Driving Ranges

The first factor in planning a golf driving range is identifying the type of facility. Depending on investor requirements, land availability, and design, there are four common types:

1. Outdoor Golf Driving Range

Currently the largest type, covering over 1,000m². It serves professional golfers and tournaments, divided into multiple hitting lines with regulated distances. Standard outdoor driving ranges include:

• Grass surface: Mostly artificial turf, but some investors use natural grass for realistic play.

• Tee house: One or two floors depending on player capacity.

• Pole & net system: Prevents balls from leaving the range, designed to withstand wind and weather.

• Drainage system: Essential, especially for the putting green.

• Irrigation system: Installed underground, ensuring landscape quality without obstructing movement.

• Lighting system: For evening or low-light play.

2. Indoor Golf Driving Range

Smaller (4–8m²), popular for homes and offices. It can be folded and stored conveniently. Equipped with essential devices such as ball trays, tees, practice mats, and flags.

3. Water Driving Range

Built near natural or artificial lakes, allowing players to hit balls into the water. It includes tee houses, lighting, and customized facilities.

4. 3D Golf Driving Range (Golf Simulator)

A modern indoor solution using projectors, screens, ball dispensers, infrared sensors, and cameras. It allows golfers to practice at home without weather dependency, offering scoring systems and swing analysis for skill improvement.

• Identify the type of golf range based on land size, terrain, and investor requirements.

3. 3D Golf Simulator Design & Installation

• Step 1: Collect client requirements & site survey.

• Step 2: Recommend software & sensor options.

• Step 3: Install flooring, equipment, and software; train client in use.

• Step 4: Provide maintenance and software updates.
